When ribbons give you a bad bow, make a bow holder!

This was a very exciting and productive weekend. And I am on my second entry related to bows on my blog so look at me go! My birthday was this weekend so my bow making time was limited but I couldnt sleep (I get too excited) so I dreamed up a new bow. Here she is! Actually this is showing the type of clips I am using. They are called Alligator Clips, they work well in baby hair and also work in adult hair. I will probably continue to use this type.

Here it is! Its a flower (hopefully you can see that yourself). I think that I need to tweak this one a little but the main concept is there. What do you think? Is it worth it to make more? I have some more ideas for bows floating in my head now...but I am waiting until my husband has a job before I buy anything else.
I had to throw a picture of my saints bow out there since they won and are going to the Superbowl! I am normally not very excited about that sort of thing but I clearly remembering people joking when I was a kid about them going to the Superbowl...and now they are going. The game was actually on at our house last night. Michael (the man I THOUGHT would never be a sucker for football when I married him) wanted to watch it. So we had it on while I cut his hair with a Flowbi/vacuum hair cutter (it came out nicely). Then we had "cookie time" (a nightly tradition since Ness was born) and watched Born in the Brothels. Since we got rid of cable and got NetFlix for our TV (not the DVD but the box you get for your TV) I have been watching A LOT of documentaries...but I am not complaining...I love them.
This is just a new bow, I have no idea how this would ever match an outfit...but its cute!
This is everyone's favorite...I like it too.
Something green for St. Patrick's Day! I want to make a ton of these but I know that St. Patrick's day is BEFORE the Craft Fair (that I am going to take part in)..so I doubt they would sell...sadly I have a whole roll of this ribbon...I might make them anyway, they are so darn cute!

15ish bows so far!

So remember that ugly bow? Well I decided to make it into a bow holder! I may make some of these for the craft fair but I am not sure. They are easy to make; they just use a lot of ribbon, and I dont want to waste ribbon if they wont sell. What do you think?

With bows.
If you are curious about what this is head this way:

FIRST BLOG, Cuteness, Bow Flop, and New Bows

I first off want to welcome myselfto the blogging world, again. I have done the blogging thing before (while we were in Japan) but once we got back to the states my mind turned to mush from being pregnant and I was wordless. My mind is FINALLY coming back. Ness is 6 months old and now he finally has a mommy with an almost full brain.

As you probably read in my profile I am on a new kick; I started making bows. I think this one will last, I am in love with making them! And its great because it gives me something while watching my husband play video games (he loves for me to do this).
I decided to blog about it because I want to get this word out: "Get your bows from Quibby!". And I need a place to channel my many thoughts on the process of bow making (and other random life things).

I want to start my new blog off with a super cute picture taken yesterday afternoon:
Isnt it cute? I had to run and get my camera and now I'm glad I did. Michael tries to read to Ness every afternoon and this seems to be the best way to position themselves so that the pages don't get torn out of the book by Ness's sticky baby hands. Oh and notice how well he is holding up his head! He now rolls from back to front and from front to back with ease (as you all know we thought this would never happen). He did the back to front thing on Sunday at CC and Papa Thorntons (are those grandparent names right?).

Ok, so I had my first Bow Flop. I blame it on the ribbon but it could have just as easily been me. I tried to make a "big bow" out of flimsy ribbon..doesn't work. I tried it on my model's head (we will call him a "model" instead of a "son" so that there is no gender confusion later in life), and it looked like a floppy pile of ribbons..not nice. Here it is posed just perfectly:
And here it is on my "Model's" head:
Yeah, didnt work out...

But on a happier note I did make two super cute bows yesterday, the green one is now Michael's favorite, I like to too..its really cute. These are the small size.

Here are a few more I made yesterday, the red, blue, and black are all for my niece, they are all small size:

I did buy some headbands yesterday and they fit on a baby's head nicely (with some room to grow), and I was able to make them the way that the bows would be interchangeable. But I am now waiting on my clips so that I can try them out.

Oh, and just before you start to worry, the actual cost spent to make these bows is very small...they are more time consuming though, so time is spent on them...but hey, I've got time!
Anyways, thanks for reading! Let me know if you need some bows!
:)
